The future's Bright, The Future's Red

The sky's the limit.

Maybe it's that Friday feeling, combined with the weather that's causing this explosion of serotonin to cascade through my very being. Or maybe it's the coffee...its probably the coffee.

Either way I was got to thinking about my beloved team and the what the future has in store for das Gunners/ los Gunnas/ the ever so lovely Reds.

We are entering into a new era of football. This is a time when the footballing brand has never been more potent. The Lovely Reds was struck by an article that explained the exciting, innovative and imaginary concepts that look set to explode on our screens and on our streets for Rio 2014.

Many of you will have seen the footage from Nike and Adidas' latest offerings in the Magista and the Primeknit FS that we reviewed here. Without going into too much detail (until they start paying us ridicularse amounts of dosh) these boots are built for the modern game where control in an increasingly congested fast-paced midfield is paramount.

When we say fast-paced technical midfield you say Arsenal! When we say fast-paced technical midfield you say Arsenal! Catchy right?

Arsenal, along with Barcelona (pah! never heard of 'em) have long been synonymous with what is now being viewed as the modern paradigm of football. When Arsenal were derided for bringing in the stunted, technical phenotype in Fabregas, Arshavin, Wilshere, Eduardo to name but a few, others laughed hah hah hah all the way to outside of the top four.

Now other big teams can't wait to build their own army of foreign pocket-rockets. As an overarching example take a cheeky peek at the England national team for a nice spread. Cole, Shaw, Sterling, Wilshere, Ox, Rooney, Lallana all under 6ft. Imagine that, an England side where half the team would have been considered 'too small' less than half a decade ago.

All this leads towards our grand prediction, coming at ya form now on every Friday afternoon, The Lovely Reds Reads the Future (or something equally as appealing). We have long been the British example of European football, our players and our style have long been the envy of our rivals. OK fine you might say that since 2008 we ain't really had a proper stab at the league but that's because we've been building an infrastructure didn't you know, a whole bloody infrastructure. Look outside you see that office block, that shopping centre, that tree? They didn't get to where they are today without a solid infrastructure and ours is the solidest (real word) out there.

Now the rest of the world is finally catching up let's push on and become an even bigger global player, take that dough and use it to compete with the handful of oligarchs, crooks and businessman who have been systematically eroding the spirit of our game and let's beat them at their own game.
